Among the statutory purposes of the Cariello Corbino Foundation there is also to remember the figures and works of Orso Mario and Epicarmo Corbino. Frankly we thought that this would be one of the most difficult objectives to achieve, because now our relations with the cultural and institutional environments of their hometown (Augusta - SR) were non-existent, nor could the few cousins still present in the such a heavy commitment. Then the miracle, in the person of the engineer Giovanni Vaccaro, an illustrious Augustan, already author of an essay on Orso Mario, who at just 94 years wrote the monographic volume "Self-taught Epicarmo Corbino" and his son Andrea, who contacted us in September 2017 for pay us some copies. From that moment the engineer Andrea Vaccaro has never stopped, bridging with many other proud Augustans: they too have never stopped and us with them. This is the synthesis of over a year of work and emotions, under the banner of the recovery of an edifying and one of the most extraordinary (and least known) pages of contemporary history in Sicily and Italy. Finally, the exciting unveiling of the Epicarmo Corbino commemorative epigraph on the facade of the birthplace in Augusta, donated by the Rotary club and the Augustana Society of Homeland History, with the little Raul from Burkina Faso to help Alberto Corbino and with the school children who sing Fratelli d'Italia and citizenship to applaud joyfully. And finally three unscheduled: visit to the Megara high school in Augusta to organize scholarships named after the Corbino brothers; a short walk to the "mountain" along viale Epicarmo Corbino; and, last but not least, the moving surprise encounter with eng. Giovanni Vaccaro, 96 year old "biographer" of the Corbino brothers from whom it all started!
