Carpenter apprenticeship – Congo
One of our goals in the Democratic Republic of Congo is to create jobs, improving the technical skills of the local population of Nord Kivu. Thank to the initiative of Alvine, one of the Congohound Virunga National Park rangers, who has been supporting the vulenrable local pygmy community with his own means – we decided to support a carpentry apprenticeship project, in Rumangabo. It will involve 40 participants, including 15 pygmies that will move and stay in Rumangabo during the whole project, 6 months. Our financial support to the project includes house rental, teacher’s salary and all the equipment. The operations will be managed by the Dodobahati Foundation, our partner in the area, under ranger Alvine supervision.
